QBs and WRs are still working through routes vs. air in the third period. Impressive catch from Walker Merrill, who has done well through camp despite still having a heavy brace on his left leg.

Joe Milton is still zipping the ball despite a rather unique throwing motion, and he’s lived up to the “big-armed” qualities that Golesh mentioned. We’ve seen some nice balls by Brian Maurer, Hendon Hooker and Harrison Bailey as well. There’s still a healthy mix between quarterback and receiver rotations as well — no rhyme or reason to them , I wouldn’t think.

Bailey has put nice touch on the ball, though we haven’t seen that as much from Milton.

Tight ends are still working heavily on blocking, and Miles Campbell has been “violent,” in the words of Golesh.

L to R, first OL unit up: Dayne Davis, Jerome Carvin, Cooper Mays, Javontez Spraggins, Cade Mays

Tight ends and running backs are working with the linemen in the fifth period, going through gaps and alignments.

From Jake: (service is poor at the field)

Plenty of energy as we enter the sixth period (out of nine available for media viewing), and there’s a lot of intensity for 9 on 8. Jeremy Banks has been flying around during the drill. Juwan Mitchell has already shown patience as he lets plays develop, and Da’Jon Terry has already made a name for himself with Rodney Garner.

Auburn transfer Kamal Hadden has been working off to the side some, and Velus Jones Jr. made a spectacular grab over Kenneth George Jr. in one-on-ones. Jones took time after the catch to coach George up, too, telling him how to avoid getting beat next time.

Can’t emphasize enough the energy and positivity — even with mistakes — in that period. Seems reflective of the way Josh Heupel has run the program to this point.

Banks and Mitchell still pacing the way at ILB, Jake?
Looks like it.

Seventh and eighth periods: Still plenty of change ups between QB/RB/WR combos as they try to feel out what works best.

Joe Milton and Jaylen Wright ran second team during the first part of team drills, while Harrison Bailey and Jabari Small were first team.

There was a nice ball from Milton to Javonte Payton, and there seemed to be a quick exchange of words between Heupel and Payton after Payton didn’t get the ball back to the ref (which is necessary to keep this fast-paced offense moving). Kodi Burns got in Payton’s face and stayed there, cooling him off after the play.

After that, though, Burns and the other receivers encouraged Payton, telling him to put the moment behind him get back to work.

Nice job from Brian Maurer during team as well, as he avoided the rush before getting a good ball over the middle. He ran with Marcus Pierce, while Bailey later teamed up with Tee Hodge and Velus Jones. So, still plenty of switching around at the skill position groupings.

A quick screen from Bailey to Julian Nixon showed just how fast this offense will run: play ran less than 10 seconds and they’re lined up quickly after.

As mentioned before — a lot of energy and positivity in Day 2 of camp. We’ll see what Day 3 brings, but for now, we await Joey Halzle’s post-practice availability. Thank y’all for following along!

This is as encouraging of a post as I've read about our team in a long time

Payton needs to learn his place it sounds like. Hopefully that's not a normal occurrence.
